Our Trade Policies

• We sell and trade new and used books.
• The majority of books are used, out of print, and hard to find collectibles.
• If we feel we can sell a customer's books, we'll give 5-20% of the cover price in credit they can use towards the purchase of other books in the store. We do not buy books!
• Most of the books in the store are 50% of the cover price - except for newly released books which are 60% of the cover price. Collectibles are cash only and market price.

We specialize in paperback fiction. However, we do take current non-fiction, audio books and some hardbacks.

Your books should be in good condition (covers on, pages intact, no major stains, hardbacks must have dustjackets). We always take back books that were purchased at our store provided they are returned in reasonably good condition. Books that have been purchased elsewhere will be accepted on an as-needed basis.

Audio books should include all packaging, all tapes should be re-wound.  CDs should be clean and unscratched. 

We are choosy when it comes to condition because we want our customers to know that when they buy from us, they will get the best looking used books. We are careful about how many copies of a title that we stock because we try to avoid having stacks of books that don’t move and take up precious space. It is uncommon for us to take every book in a particular trade so if we don’t take all of yours, it’s nothing personal, honestly!

We will trade hardbacks in the following categories: children, cookbooks, bestsellers that have not gone into soft back, collectible first editions and titles that are worthy of stocking but not easy to find in paperback. Please keep in mind that if it is a title that is widely available in paperback, we may not take a hard copy.

If you have a bag or two of books that you would like to trade in, you do not need an appointment.  Just note the hours for the particular day you would like to visit and plan on arriving before the last half-hour that we are open; the earlier the better.

If you have a lot of books you wish to trade, we recommend that you call ahead to arrange a time that is mutually convenient. It is difficult to accommodate large trade-ins without prior notice.
